Subsierra, Beneath the Sierra: The union of wineries and winegrowers from Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta for a sustainable future of the Region.
Logroño, 16 de diciembre – Presentación de la Asociación SUBSIERRA y cata de sus vinos.
Hoy se ha presentado la Asociación Subsierra a todos los profesionales del sector y hemos podido disfrutar de los vinos de todas las bodegas socias.
Ante más de 30 sumilleres y restauradores de La Rioja, Juan Luis Cañas (presidente de la Asociación y dueño de Bodegas Amaren) ha ido desgranando los valores que motivan el proyecto de Subsierra: el respeto al territorio, la apuesta por bodegas de carácter familiar, el trabajo bien hecho y en la práctica de una viticultura ecológica que protege y realza la biodiversidad mientras se preservan las técnicas tradicionales.
Así mismo ha reforzado el compromiso de Subsierra con la comarca de la Sonsierra, desde Briñas hasta Moreda, con sus viticultores y con todo aquel que comparta los valores de la asociación, ya sea hotelero, restaurador o elaborador de producto ecológico.
Each winery within SUBSIERRA brings its own history and specialization in the production of high-quality wines. Wineries like Artuke, located in Baños de Ebro, look for soils with the purity of the terroir concept and are committed to the recovery of abandoned vineyards; or Bodegas Tierra in Labastida, which continues the third generation of winegrowers who work to keep the winemaking tradition alive and awaken vocations of “vignerores”. Carlos Sánchez in Labastida, is characterized by its limited and meticulous productions, focused on organic viticulture. In Lapuebla de Labarca, Bodegas Loli Casado, have found the balance between the preservation of traditions and the adoption of modern and sustainable practices; Bodegas Teodoro Ruiz Monje, from San Vicente de la Sonsierra, stands out for its artisanal work after four generations; in Samaniego, Bodegas Amaren is a family tribute with century-old vineyards promoting biodiversity; Bodegas Ostatu, also in Samaniego, continue with a centuries-old tradition, focusing their efforts on offering the highest quality based on organic viticulture and with the majority of production certified in EKo since 2021. Finally, Bodegas Tentenublo, in Viñaspre (Lanciego), seeks to revive artisanal wine production.
Currently with 8 family properties, 318 hectares, 77 wine references and 6 towns, the association defends the values of small producers, the recovery of old vineyards and the promotion of biodiversity, participating in the cultural landscape of the region, ensuring a fair price for their products and promoting sustainability throughout the value chain.
